Dance Circle

Kerrie Black drawing at Big Rock

Dance Circle, the first of the twelve M~M Walking Circles, is a contemporary ceremonial ground in sand, decorated with bird patterns in ochre.

Fire is the at the heart of Dance Circle; water is in the ancient hewn rock well; earth is the dance floor; air swirls over the rocks, filling Canoe.

Dance Circle is a contemporary dance space designed to echo ceremonial spaces of the area that have been danced for thousands of years.

Fallen Feathers

Large fabric feathers reference the beautiful ethereal birds of the skies above Big Rock.

Designed as wayfinders, Fallen Feathers feature at the entrance to Big Rock and guide walkers to the Gathering of the Elders ceremony at Dance Circle where the ephemeral sculpture, Canoe, begins its 80 kilometre journey carrying water from the rock well to the mouth of the Barwon River.
